Ken Saul – Chairman

Ken has had a lifelong interest in natural history and conservation, contributing to many articles and books over the years. He was one of the founders (currently secretary) of the Norfolk Moth Survey, the first county-based group in the UK to focus on these insects. He is a regular volunteer with both Norfolk Wildlife Trust and the Broads Authority. Ken is also a member of the electric folk band Stone Angel. He worked in local government for forty years with Norfolk County Council.

Joan Saul – Secretary

Joan worked for Norfolk County Council’s Library & Information Service, and takes great interest in both local and family history. However, her first love is music – she is a member of the band Stone Angel, and has also performed with various local choirs. She is passionate about local conservation and nature, volunteering with Norfolk Wildlife Trust and the Broads Authority.

Irene Woodrow – Treasurer

Irene has a background in Accounting and Bookkeeping. She is a volunteer for the Norfolk Wildlife Trust at their HQ in Norwich and in the Trinity Broads. She was Treasurer of Friends of Horsey Seals for six years and a Seal Warden for ten.

Eilish Rothney
 

Eilish has worked in the broads for 25 years, initially as Conservation Officer with the Broads Authority and for the last 6½ years as warden for the Trinity Broads. “I love working in this special area where beautiful wildlife nestles in the heart of local communities.” Eilish is passionate about involving people in conservation and happy to be a part of this wonderful initiative. “. When not working, Eilish plays with a local Ceilidh band and is a Parish Councillor in Hickling.

Bernard Chase

 

Bernard enjoyed a 45 year commercial career in the plastics industry, owning and running an SME for over 20 years before taking up Director roles in larger corporate enterprises working in the plastics recycling sector. A final 4 year stint as ‘plastics industry specialist’ with the Government advisory body on waste, WRAP, led up to retirement in Filby where volunteer work for the Norfolk Wildlife Trust and treasureship of All Saints Parish Church Filby compete with time spent exploring the East Coast of Britain in his sailing boat.

Adrian Thompson

Farmer, Filby’s Postmaster and owner of local convenience store. Recently elected Borough Councillor, Chairman of Filby’s Parish Council, its Playing Field Committee and Filby in Bloom. In the latter role, he managed the village’s first entry into Anglia in Bloom, in 1995, its first success as Best Village in 1999 and in both 2002 and in 2017, the achievement of the ultimate accolade of Category Winner in the Britain in Bloom Competition.
 

Derek Nicker

Retired, former Technical Director of an electronics manufacturer. Parish Councillor, a Trustee of Filby Bells Restoration and sits on Filby’s Playing Field Committee.
